Ashkhaneh; Amir Mohammad Hajeri, Kurmanji Kurd Detained in January, to Be Transferred to Prison Next Week to Serve 3-Year, 6-Month Sentence

August 2, 2026 – "Amir Mohammad Hajeri," a 24-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth from Ashkhaneh in North Khorasan Province who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, was recently sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Bojnurd County to 3 years, 6 months, and 1 day of discretionary imprisonment and is scheduled to be transferred to prison next week to serve his sentence.

An informed source, confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Amir Mohammad Hajeri" was sentenced by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Bojnurd County, presided over by Judge "Sadegh Rafiei," on charges of "assembly and collusion against national security" to 3 years, 6 months, and 1 day of discretionary imprisonment, and on charges of "propaganda against the system" to 6 months and 1 day of discretionary imprisonment; by applying the rule of executing the maximum penalty, his enforceable sentence will be 3 years, 6 months, and 1 day of discretionary imprisonment.

According to this source, this verdict was issued on July 19, 2026, and verbally communicated to him. Furthermore, this Kurdish citizen was deprived of the right to have a lawyer throughout all stages of the proceedings and was not even aware of whether a court session was held or not. According to the issued notification, he will be arrested and transferred to prison within the next week to serve his sentence.

On January 19, 2026, "Amir Mohammad Hajeri" was arrested following a raid by security forces on his home without presenting a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. After four days of detention in an unknown location, he was transferred to Bojnurd Prison, and finally, on January 31, 2026, he was temporarily released upon posting heavy bail.

Throughout the entire period of arbitrary detention, this Kurdish citizen was deprived of the right to access a lawyer, family visits, and phone calls.
