Mahabad: Arbitrary Detention of Amir Soleimani, Family Member of Political Activists, and His Transfer to an Unknown Location

August 15, 2026; In the continuation of the wave of arbitrary and mass arrests of Kurdish citizens in recent days in Iranian Kurdistan, "Amir Soleimani", a 44-year-old Kurdish citizen from the village of "Khorkhoreh" in the "Sharuderan" area of the city of Mahabad and a family member of political activists outside Iran, was arbitrarily arrested and transferred to an unknown location.

According to an informed source speaking to Kurdpa; on Saturday morning, August 15, 2026, "Amir Soleimani", a 44-year-old Kurdish citizen from the village of "Khorkhoreh" in the "Sharuderan" area of the city of Mahabad, was arrested during a raid by security forces on his home without presenting a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location.

Amir Soleimani is married and the father of two children. He is also the brother of "Hesam Soleimani", one of the political activists outside Iran. Pressure on the families of political activists outside Iran is among the structural and intimidating policies against Kurdish citizens.

Until the time of publication of this news, no information is available regarding the reasons for the arrest and possible charges against this Kurdish citizen, and security forces have offered no explanation in this regard. Additionally, this Kurdish citizen is deprived of the right to access a lawyer, family visits, and telephone calls.
