Mehran / Ilam: 3 Days of Detention and Lack of Information About Aryan Tarwand, Family Member of Said Tarwand, Killed in January 2026

August 14, 2026; With 3 days having passed since the arbitrary detention of "Aryan Tarwand", a 21-year-old Kurdish youth from the city of Mehran in the province of Ilam and cousin of "Said Tarwand", who was killed during the January 2026 protests in Abadan, there is still no information available regarding his fate and place of detention.

According to an informed source speaking to Kurdpa; on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, "Aryan Tarwand", a 21-year-old Kurdish youth from the city of Mehran in the province of Ilam, was violently arrested and transferred to an unknown location during a raid by security forces and plainclothes agents of the IRGC Intelligence on his family home, while being blindfolded and handcuffed.

Until the time of publication of this news, no information is available regarding the place of detention and fate of this Kurdish citizen. Additionally, security forces have provided no explanation or reason for his arrest, and he is deprived of the right to access a lawyer, family visits, and telephone calls.

"Aryan Tarwand" is the cousin of "Said Tarwand", who was killed during the January 2026 protests in Abadan.

"Said Tarwand", a 33-year-old Kurdish youth from the city of Mehran in the province of Ilam and a contractor for the oil company in Abadan, was targeted by direct live ammunition fire from state repressive forces on Thursday evening, January 8, 2026, during public protests in Abadan and lost his life.
