Bojnurd; Amir Mehdi Naeimifar, Detained Athlete of January Protests and Kurmanji Kurd Youth, Sentenced to Imprisonment and Cash Fine

July 28, 2026 – "Amir Mehdi Naeimifar," an 18-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth, athlete, and one of the detainees of the January 2026 protests, was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Bojnurd County, without the right to access a lawyer, to 1 year and 6 months of discretionary imprisonment and a cash fine of 50 million Tomans.

An informed source, confirming this news, told Kurdpa: "Amir Mehdi Naeimifar," an 18-year-old Kurmanji Kurd youth, boxing and football athlete from the city of Bojnurd in North Khorasan Province, who was arrested during the January 2026 arrests, was sentenced on June 22, 2026, without the right to access a lawyer, by Branch 4 of the Criminal Court of Bojnurd County on charges of "disrupting public order and peace" and "disobeying police orders" to 1 year and 6 months of discretionary imprisonment and a cash fine of 50 million Tomans.

Amir Mehdi Naeimifar was arrested on January 8, 2026, without a judicial warrant by security forces and transferred to an unknown location. After three weeks of arbitrary detention, he was temporarily released on bail.

During the period of detention, this Kurdish youth was deprived of the right to access a lawyer and to have visits and phone calls with his family; furthermore, throughout all stages of the case proceedings, he was deprived of the right to have a lawyer.
