Sulaymaniyah / Kurdistan Region; 9 Peshmerga of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan Killed in Islamic Republic Missile Attack

This morning, Friday, July 17, 2026; following an attack by 6 missiles of the Islamic Republic of Iran targeting the headquarters of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan in the "Zargwezala" region located in the Sulaymaniyah province of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 9 Peshmerga of this party lost their lives and a number of others were wounded. The Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan confirmed the news by publishing an official statement.

The party announced in its statement that at 6:00 AM this morning, the party's headquarters were targeted as a result of extensive and heavy missile attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and during these attacks, 9 of the party's Peshmerga lost their lives. The Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan also emphasized that this is not the first attack by the Islamic Republic on the party's headquarters, and since the beginning of the war, these headquarters have been repeatedly targeted with hundreds of missiles and drones. While condemning these attacks, the party declared that despite these actions, their will and struggle will remain steadfast, and the 9 fallen Peshmerga are the latest martyrs on the path to freedom whose path and struggle will continue.

The names and details of the 9 fallen Peshmerga are as follows: Yasin Kianpour, born January 3, 2005, from Shazand, who joined the party in June 2026; Zakaria Fagheh-Hassan-Agha, born March 20, 2004, from Bukan, who joined the party in June 2026; Siavan Nikikhah, born October 12, 2009, from Bukan, who joined the party in June 2026; Ahmad Mahmoudi, born December 5, 1993, from Baneh, who joined the party in June 2026; Farhad Ghamari, born September 21, 1973, from Divandarreh, who joined the party in April 2026; Reza Sadeghi, born December 20, 1994, from Bukan, who joined the party in May 2026; Kasra Rahman-Nejad, born January 5, 2009, from Bukan, who joined the party in June 2026; Soroush Nasri, born May 27, 2009, from Marivan, who joined the party in July 2026; Sina Safari, born March 25, 2008, from Shabad, who joined the party in July 2026.

According to documented statistics in Kurdpa from February 28, 2026, to July 17, 2026, more than 800 instances of missile and drone attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran and its affiliated proxy groups have been recorded against the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. As a result of these attacks, at least 29 people, including 7 Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, one member of the Asayish forces, 18 Peshmerga of Iranian Kurdistan parties, 3 civilian citizens, and one French soldier have lost their lives, and dozens of others have been wounded.

Meanwhile, the headquarters and camps of political refugees belonging to Kurdish opposition parties opposed to the Islamic Republic have been the primary targets of these attacks, particularly camps where the families, women, and children of the members of these parties reside. Furthermore, service and public centers including hospitals, libraries, schools, and civil institutions active in these camps have also been targeted by missile and drone attacks.
