May 31, 2026; Three young Kurdish men from "Darreh Shahr" of Ilam and residents of Karaj named "Mohammad Amin Shamsi", "Amir Amraei", and "Kamyar Amraei", who were arrested by security forces during the January 2026 protests and are incarcerated in Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj, have been collectively sentenced to 9 years and 3 months of execution-style imprisonment during recent days.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa; "Mohammad Amin Shamsi", 29 years old, "Amir Amraei", 23 years old, and "Kamyar Amraei", 22 years old, three young Kurdish men from "Darreh Shahr" and residents of Karaj who were arbitrarily arrested by security forces on January 9, 2026, during the January protests and transferred to an unknown location, have now each been sentenced to 3 years and one month of execution-style imprisonment after passing 143 days of detention and while they remain incarcerated in Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj.

Further details regarding the branch that issued the sentence against these three young Kurdish men are not available, but considering the amount of the issued punishment, it is probable that this sentence was issued by one of the Revolutionary Courts of Karaj and likely on the charge of "assembly and collusion against national security" based on Article 610 of the Islamic Penal Code; a charge which is considered among the common accusation titles particularly in cases related to protests.

Kurdpa's informed source says; "Mohammad Amin Shamsi", "Amir Amraei", and "Kamyar Amraei" have been repeatedly subjected to beatings by prison guards during their detention period. Also, they were held in solitary confinement cells in an unknown location for 10 days for interrogation. For this reason, the physical and psychological condition of these three prisoners in prison has been reported as inappropriate, and concerns regarding their situation have increased.

In the same regard, "Mohammad Amin Shamsi" has objected to his sentence of three years and one month of imprisonment, and his case has been referred to one of the branches of the Court of Appeals for review.

These three political prisoners have been deprived of the right to access a lawyer and meet with their families during their arbitrary detention and interrogation period.
