Mirabad; Young Kurdish Tradesman Ghazi Kavani Killed by Direct Gunfire to the Head

May 24, 2026 (4 Khordad 1405); Over the past few days, a young Kurdish man named Ghazi Kavani, from the village of "Doleto" in the Mirabad city of West Azerbaijan province, lost his life after being shot directly in the head by military forces in the "Jasusan" region near Sardasht.

Ghazi Kavani, who worked as a tradesman (kasbkar), was severely wounded after being struck in the head by live ammunition fired by military forces. Following several days of hospitalization, he succumbed to the severity of his injuries on the evening of Sunday, May 23, 2026 (3 Khordad 1405), in a hospital in Mahabad.

In a related incident on Thursday, May 21, 2026 (31 Ordibehesht 1405), a Kurdish citizen named Farooq Mahmoudi, from the village of "Shekh Saleh" in Salas-e Babajani, was targeted by direct military gunfire for no apparent reason at the Shekh Saleh border market and was severely injured. After four days, he remains hospitalized under surgical care in Javanrud due to the critical nature of the gunshot wounds.
