May 24, 2026; Four days after military forces directly opened fire at a Kurdish citizen named "Farooq Mahmoudi"—a resident of "Sheikh Saleh" village in Salas-e Babajani county, Kermanshah province—in the "Sheikh Saleh" border market, he remains hospitalized and undergoing surgeries at Javanrud Hospital due to the severity of the injuries caused by the direct live ammunition fire.

An informed source, confirming this news to Kurdpa, stated: "Farooq Mahmoudi," son of Seyed Karim, a young Kurdish man from the village of "Sheikh Saleh," was severely wounded on Thursday, May 21, 2026, in the Sheikh Saleh border market by the direct gunfire of military forces without any specified reason, and has been undergoing treatment and surgical operations at Javanrud Hospital up to this point.

The Sheikh Saleh border market is located in Kermanshah province near the Iraqi border and is considered one of the most important official terminals for border trade. This market has been active since 1996 and plays a significant role in exports, the economic development of the region, and the employment of border residents. Nevertheless, many local residents in these areas are engaged in labor and Kolbari (border couriering), and the border areas of Kurdistan have continuously faced a highly militarized atmosphere, a pervasive presence of military forces, and the threat of direct shootings and shelling due to the security and military policies of the Islamic Republic.
