Saqqez; Killing of Sayyid Zanyar Hosseini a Kurdish tradesman With targeted shooting by military forces to the head and neck
May 12, 2026; a young tradesman from "Saqqez" named "Sayyid Zanyar Hosseini" was targeted by direct and targeted live ammunition fire from the military forces of the Islamic Republic without prior warning in the "Robat Karim" area of "Saqqez" and lost his life immediately.
An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa; on the afternoon of Monday, May 11, 2026, "Sayyid Zanyar Hosseini," a Kurdish youth from the village of "Bardeh Rasheh" in the vicinity of the "Tileku" region in the city of "Saqqez," while traveling in a private vehicle in the "Robat Karim" area of "Saqqez" and carrying "alcohol," was targeted by two war bullets to the head and neck area by military forces without prior warning and lost his life immediately.
According to the law on the use of weapons by the armed forces in the Islamic Republic of Iran, military and law enforcement forces are obliged, before the direct use of weapons, to first use stops and warnings, alerts, and in later stages aerial firing, and are only authorized to shoot directly in necessary and exceptional circumstances. Furthermore, this law emphasizes that even if firing is necessary, officers must, as far as possible, refrain from shooting at sensitive parts of the body and target the lower body. However, according to the account of the informed source, in this case, war weapons were used without prior warning and by firing directly at the head and neck area.
From the perspective of international human rights, the lethal use of weapons against citizens must be the last resort and only in conditions of serious and imminent threat to the lives of individuals. Direct firing at the head and neck of a citizen, without warning and without the existence of an immediate life-threatening danger, can be considered an instance of illegal and disproportionate use of force.
The body of this Kurdish youth is scheduled to be buried on the evening of Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 9:00 PM, in the "Aychi" cemetery of "Saqqez." To date, no information has been published regarding this targeted shooting by the military forces or the results of the forensic medicine examination regarding his killing.
