April 7, 2026; Mohsen Eslamkhah, a 20-year-old citizen from the city of "Bukan" and a protester during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" revolutionary uprising, has been sentenced to death on charges of "moharebeh" (enmity against God) by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in the city of "Mahabad."
According to an informed source, during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" protests, security forces raided the family home of Mohsen Eslamkhah several times to arrest him. At that time, he was 16 years old; due to pressure from security institutions and fear of arrest, he left Iran and resided in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region until 2025.
The informed source added: This young Kurdish man was arrested on August 1, 2025, after returning to the city of "Bukan" and presenting himself to the Intelligence Office of this city. He was subjected to torture for about two months in the detention center of the Intelligence Office in the city of "Urmia" to extract forced confessions regarding his participation in the murder of a Basij member. After the interrogation process was completed, he was transferred to the prison in the city of "Bukan" and subsequently released temporarily on bail.
The source stated that the death sentence for Mohsen Eslamkhah was issued on February 17, 2026, by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in "Mahabad," and he was arrested on February 22, 2026, and transferred to the prison in "Bukan."
In February 2026, Rauf Sheikh-Maroufi and Mohammad Faraji, two Kurdish citizens from the city of "Bukan" who were also detained during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" revolutionary uprising, were sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in "Mahabad" on charges of "moharebeh" and "efsad-fil-arz" (corruption on earth).
