Urmia; Continued arbitrary detention and no news on the fate of Hadith Haghighi, a Kurdish blogger

April 11, 2026; Despite more than a month having passed since the arrest of Hadith Haghighi, a 21-year-old Kurdish blogger from the city of "Urmia," there is no precise information available regarding her fate or location.

According to an informed source who spoke to Kurdpa, security forces raided the paternal home of this blogger at night without a judicial warrant and arrested both her and her father.

The informed source added that Hadith Haghighi and her father have been deprived of access to a lawyer and family visits since their arrest.

The informed source stated that the personal Instagram page of this blogger has been blocked by judicial order until further notice.

The informed source announced that the follow-up efforts by the Haghighi family to learn about the fate of Hadith and her father have been fruitless.

The informed source said that during the war between Iran and the U.S.–Israel, a number of Kurdish bloggers from "Urmia" were summoned to security institutions, and after their interrogation processes were completed, their electronic devices were confiscated and they were prohibited from engaging in activities on social media.

As of the time of publishing this report, there is no information available regarding the reason for the arrest or the charges brought against Ms. Haghighi.
