Abdanan; Violent Detention of Yaqub Mohammadi, a Popular Educator and Former Political Prisoner; People Have Taken to the Streets in Protest of His Detention

Noon, February 21, 2026; “Yaqub Mohammadi,” one of the elders and most reputable cultural figures of city of Abdanan and a former political prisoner, was violently detained following a raid by dozens of vehicles belonging to suppression forces on his home. This arbitrary detention has triggered public outrage, and a large number of citizens have staged a protest in front of the city's police station, which was met with gunfire from suppression forces, resulting in at least one youth being wounded so far.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: at noon on February 21, 2026, more than 20 vehicles of security forces raided the home of “Yaqub Mohammadi,” a well-reputed figure and teacher in city of Abdanan, and detained him violently without presenting a judicial warrant. The people of city of Abdanan took to the streets to protest the detention of this reputable figure and gathered in front of the city's police station.

From the images published of the moment of detention, security forces are seen wearing black outfits and masks, some of whom are armed with Kalashnikovs, taking him away through intimidation and violence. While his relatives tried to prevent the detention, they pulled him out of the house by force, put him in a vehicle, and took him away.

Subsequently, a large crowd of people from city of Abdanan gathered in front of the police station and chanted protest slogans of “Death to Khamenei,” with the number of people increasing every moment. Security forces responded to the people's protest with violence and gunfire, and according to the latest information, one youth has been wounded so far.
