Mashhad; 34 Days of Arbitrary Detention and Lack of Information Regarding Mehdi Jafari; He Lives Alone in Mashhad and No One Is Following Up on His Fate

February 21, 2026; After 34 days since the arbitrary detention of “Mehdi Jafari,” a Kurdish youth from city of Dargaz in Khorasan Razavi Province and a resident of city of Mashhad, there is no information available regarding his fate or place of detention. Due to the fact that he lives alone in city of Mashhad, he has no one to follow up on his fate.

An informed source, while confirming this news, told Kurdpa: “Mehdi Jafari” was detained on January 19, 2026, without a judicial warrant by security forces and transferred to an unknown location, and since then, no information regarding his fate or place of detention has been available.

This informed source says that during this period of arbitrary detention, he has been deprived of any right to access a lawyer, or to have contact and meetings with his relatives.

Mehdi Jafari is originally from the Kurmanj Kurds of city of Dargaz located in Khorasan Razavi Province and is a resident of city of Mashhad.
