Continued Detention of Amjad Salehzadeh at Shahramfar IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj

Amjad Salehzadeh, a 38-year-old Kurdish citizen from Saqqez, son of Ahmad, remains in arbitrary detention at the Shahramfar Detention Center in Sanandaj, which is operated by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

He was arrested by security forces on January 22, 2025, and has since been held without formal charges or access to legal representation or family visitation.

Detention Conditions and Rights Violations

According to a reliable source, Mr. Salehzadeh has been subjected to repeated extensions of his temporary detention warrant, issued at the discretion of security forces.

The source also reported that he is being subjected to physical and psychological pressure and torture, in an effort to extract forced confessions.

Mr. Salehzadeh was violently arrested at his workplace, without a judicial warrant. Security forces subsequently raided his home and conducted a search.

As of this report, no official information is available regarding the charges or legal basis for his detention.

Previous Legal Proceedings

In April 2024, Branch 1 of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Javad Mostafaei, sentenced Mr. Salehzadeh to three months in prison on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
The sentence was later reduced to a fine of 160 million IRR under the Law on Reduction of Sentences.

This fine was further reduced to 120 million IRR under Article 442, and was officially enforced on May 14, 2024, by Branch 2 of the Criminal Enforcement Office of the Saqqez Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.

Previous Arrests

On March 17, 2023, Mr. Salehzadeh was summoned to the Saqqez Intelligence Office, where he was detained and interrogated for one day before being released on temporary bail.

His interrogation hearing was held on February 22, 2024, at Branch 1 of the Saqqez Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, where he was again charged with “propaganda against the regime.”
