Oshnavieh; Arman Ebrahimi Transferred to Urmia Prison to Serve One-Year Sentence

July 22, 2026 – Arman Ebrahimi, a young Kurdish citizen from the village of "Alkawi" near Oshnavieh, has been transferred to Urmia Central Prison to serve a one-year discretionary prison sentence.

An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating that following a summons to the Execution of Verdicts Branch of the Oshnavieh General and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office in recent days, the young Kurdish citizen was sent to Urmia Central Prison to begin his one-year sentence. He is currently held in the ward for political and conscientious prisoners.

Kurdpa had previously reported that Arman Ebrahimi was arrested by security forces in Oshnavieh on July 3, 2024, without a judicial warrant. Following his transfer to Urmia, he was interrogated for 12 days in an undisclosed detention center run by the Ministry of Intelligence before being transferred to Oshnavieh Prison. Six days later, he was temporarily released on bail from Oshnavieh Prison.

A few months later, the young Kurdish man was sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by a branch of the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court on charges of "acting against national security" through membership in a Kurdish opposition party. Upon appeal, the sentence was upheld without alteration by Branch 2 of the West Azerbaijan Provincial Court of Appeal.
