Mahabad; Arbitrary Arrest of Peyman Mohammadi Moradi Following Summons to Intelligence Office and Transfer to Undisclosed Location
July 23, 2026 – Yesterday, "Peyman Mohammadi Moradi," a young Kurdish citizen from Mahabad, was arrested after being summoned to the Ministry of Intelligence office and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location.
An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating: "On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Peyman Mohammadi Moradi—who had been summoned by security forces to the Intelligence Office in recent days and had his mobile phone confiscated without legal documentation—was summoned once again under the pretext of retrieving his phone. However, upon his arrival, he was arrested without a judicial warrant and taken to an unknown location."
According to the source, security forces had previously summoned the Kurdish citizen, seizing his mobile phone without presenting any judicial order or legal authorization, and later instructed him to return to the Intelligence Office to retrieve it.
As of the publication of this report, the reasons for his arrest remain unknown, and security authorities have offered no explanation regarding the matter. Furthermore, Peyman Mohammadi Moradi has been denied contact and visitation rights with his family, as well as access to legal counsel.
