Mahabad: Vahab Khediripour Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison

Vahab Khediripour, a Kurdish citizen from Mahabad, has been sentenced to 10 months of imprisonment by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad.

According to a well-informed source, the court accused Mr. Khediripour of “collaboration with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government.”
The verdict was reportedly issued and communicated to him in early April 2025.

Background and Arrest

On Wednesday, February 21, 2025, Mr. Khediripour was temporarily released on bail of 500 million tomans until the end of legal proceedings.

He had been transferred to Mahabad Prison following the completion of his interrogation at the Mahabad Intelligence Office detention center.

Previously, on Wednesday, January 31, 2025, he was arrested without a formal summons after being called in by the Mahabad Intelligence Office.

On Sunday, January 28, 2025, security forces had initially raided his home in an attempt to arrest him, but due to public attention at the scene, they left and instructed him to report to the court the next day, Monday, January 29.

Personal and Family Background
 • Vahab Khediripour is married and the father of two children.
 • He is the cousin of Shomal Khediripour, who was killed during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) uprising.
 • The Islamic Republic also killed his brother, Sohrab Khediripour, a member of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, in the spring of 2021.
