Mamosta Loqman Amini Arrested After Appearing Before the Special Clerical Court in Hamedan

On Monday, April 21, 2025, Mamosta Loqman Amini, the Friday prayer leader of Chahar Yar Nabi Grand Mosque in Sanandaj, was arrested after appearing at the Special Clerical Court in Hamedan.
The Kurdish cleric had previously received a summons requiring him to appear before the court on this date.
In June 2023, Mamosta Amini was sentenced to 11 years in prison, banishment to Ardabil for two years, permanent removal of his clerical status, and a ban on delivering Friday sermons, on charges including:
Propaganda against the state in favor of a Kurdish opposition party,
Possession of a handgun,
Incitement to riot,
Support for the people and protests of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising.
Earlier, on Monday, January 30, 2023, Mamosta Amini was arrested without a judicial warrant by security forces on the Marivan road due to his support for the uprising. He was temporarily released on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, after posting bail pending further judicial proceedings.
