Piranshahr – Reza Bourkeh Must Report to Naqadeh Prison Tomorrow to Serve One-Year Sentence

On April 8, 2025, Reza Bourkeh, a Kurdish citizen from Piranshahr and one of those arrested during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) revolutionary uprising—who had been detained twice during the protests—is scheduled to report to Naqadeh Prison tomorrow, April 9, 2025, to begin serving a one-year prison sentence on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
According to a source cited by Kurdpa, Reza Bourkeh had previously been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad to one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime in favor of opposition groups and inciting youth during the protests.” He must present himself to Naqadeh Prison tomorrow, April 9, 2025, to begin his sentence.
Mr. Bourkeh was arrested twice in 2022 during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi uprising by security forces. He was held for two months during the first detention and four months during the second, in security detention centers. He was later temporarily released on bail pending trial.
Reza Bourkeh, 51 years old, is a Kurdish resident of Piranshahr. His brother, Mohammad Bourkeh, a member of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, was previously killed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
