The death sentence of Yusef Ahmadi, a Kurdish political prisoner, was confirmed by the Supreme Court
Branch 39 of the Supreme Court confirmed the death sentence of Yusef Ahmadi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Baneh who is serving his sentence in Sanandaj prison.
According to an informed source, in recent days, the confirmation of the death sentence of this political prisoner in the Supreme Court has been communicated to him.
After three years and four months of temporary detention, Mr. Ahmadi was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, headed by Judge "Saeedi", and three other political prisoners from Baneh, named "Mohammad Karimi", "Basit Karimi" and "Mohammad Feizi" were sentenced to a total of 65 years in prison. According to the verdict of the first instance court, Yusef Ahmadi was sentenced to death for "rebellion", Mohammad Karimi was sentenced to 25 years in prison for "assisting in rebellion", Basit Karimi was sentenced to 20 years in prison for "assisting in rebellion" and Mohammad Feizi was sentenced to 20 years in prison for "assisting in rebellion".
The last court session to hear the charges against these four citizens was held on September 5th in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj and the verdict issued against them was issued on September 11th and communicated to them on September 12th.
These four citizens were arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant in April 2020 with the onset of a wave of arrests of citizens in Baneh and security forces accused them of "collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties to the Iranian government".
These four citizens were transferred to one of the security detention centers in Sanandaj for interrogation after their arrest and transferred to the central prison of this city after the completion of the interrogation.
Security forces had severely tortured these four citizens in detention to obtain forced confessions.
