Houshyar Shabani, a former political prisoner and civil activist, was summoned to the public and revolutionary court of Baneh

A former political prisoner and civil activist from Baneh named "Houshyar Shabani", 28 years old and son of Mohammad, was summoned to the first branch of the prosecutor's office of the public and revolutionary court of Baneh on charges of "propaganda against the system".

According to a source; after the security forces of Baneh failed to arrest Mr. Shabani on September 4, 2023, despite raiding his house; they filed a case against him and summoned him to the first branch of the prosecutor's office of the public and revolutionary court of Baneh at the end of November 2023 to defend himself.

This Kurdish citizen must introduce himself to the public and revolutionary court of Baneh within five days, otherwise, he will be arrested.

Mr. Shabani was sentenced to one year of correctional imprisonment by the revolutionary court of Saqqez in Baneh, headed by Judge "Akbar Mirzaei", on charges of "propaganda against the system" and was acquitted of the charge of "collaboration with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government" in February 2021.

The court suspended eight months of this citizen's prison sentence for five years and suspended the execution of eight months of prison sentence as a precautionary measure and announced that Mr. Shabani is required to periodically introduce himself to the Baneh Intelligence Department during the suspension period. Submitting the required certificate to the criminal sentence enforcement unit is the place of sentence execution.

On February 7, 2023, this citizen was arrested and transferred to Baneh prison for the execution of his imprisonment sentence.

On Monday, November 14, 2021, Houshyar Shabani was released on bail temporarily until the end of the judicial proceedings.

During his detention, this citizen was transferred to the Salah al-Din Ayoubi hospital due to stomach bleeding in the detention center of the intelligence office of Baneh.

The security forces had put Mr. Shabani under pressure and torture during 84 days of solitary confinement in this detention center, and he had suffered from stomach bleeding twice.

This Kurdish citizen was deprived of "access to a lawyer" and "meeting with his family" during his detention.

On Friday, August 26, 2021, this citizen was arrested by the security forces without presenting a judicial order.

Also, Houshyar Shabani has a history of arrest, conviction, and imprisonment in 2017, 2018, and 2019 due to his civil activities, including the campaign to support the porters and the strike of the shopkeepers and merchants.
