Urmia; Continued Detention and Lack of Information on the Whereabouts of Amin Karimi, Theater Artist and Actor

As of July 23, 2025 (2 Mordad 1404), despite 23 days having passed since the arrest of Amin Karimi, known as “Aminu,” a theater artist and actor from Urmia, no precise information is available regarding his whereabouts.

According to an informed source, during his detention, this artist has so far been denied visitation with his family and is under interrogation at the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center.

The informed source added that the efforts of this theater actor’s family to obtain information about his situation and the charges against him have been unsuccessful.

The source stated that this artist’s social media accounts are being managed by security forces of the Intelligence Department.

Amin Karimi had previously been arrested by security forces during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi revolutionary uprising and was released after one month of interrogation.

Recently, the series “Tajdin and Amineh”, directed by Mr. Karimi, had received a warm reception from audiences.

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025 (10 Tir 1404), Amin Karimi was arrested by security forces at the Serow border terminal in Urmia while returning from Turkey, and so far no clear information has been obtained regarding the reason for his arrest or the charges brought against him.
