Urmia prison; Mohayyedin Ebrahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner, was executed
This morning, Friday, March 17th, Mohayyedin Ebrahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner from city of Oshnavieh, was executed in Urmia central prison.
One of the relatives of this political prisoner in a conversation with Kurdpa confirmed the news of the execution of Mohayyedin Ebrahimi in Urmia prison.
Mohayyedin Ebrahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner, was transferred to the solitary cell of Urmia prison on Wednesday, March 15th, to execute the death sentence, and on Thursday, March 16th, he had the last meeting with his family before his execution.
Mr. Ebrahimi was sentenced to death twice by the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, and after the first time his death sentence was overturned in the Supreme Court, the second time this sentence was confirmed in the Supreme Court and his request for retrial was also rejected.
Rejection of the retrial of Mohayyedin Ebrahimi's death sentence:
After Mohayyedin Ebrahimi's death sentence was confirmed in the Supreme Court for the second time, his appointed lawyers, Ali Alizadeh, requested a retrial of his case, which was rejected.
Mohayyedin Ebrahimi's death sentence was confirmed a second time after it was overturned once in the Supreme Court.
In September 2020, the death sentence of Mohayyedin Ebrahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner, was confirmed by the Supreme Court of the country and then referred to the court of his residence.
This political prisoner for the second time and after his case was rejected in the Supreme Court for the first time and was referred to same branch for re-examination. On January 14, 2020, he was sentenced to death by the second branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ali Sheikhlou and Alireza Aghazadeh, on charges of "rebellion and membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government". He was also sentenced to pay a fine of seven billion Rials and 2 years in prison on the charge of smuggling alcoholic beverages, and he only accepted this charge in the court, and the defense bill of his lawyer Fethullah Sharbati was in the same direction.
Violation of Mohayyedin Ebrahimi's death sentence in the Supreme Court for the first time:
Mohayyedin Ebrahimi's death sentence, after he was sentenced to death for the first time in the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, was overturned in the Supreme Court in March 2019 and his case was referred to the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia for retrial.
Mr. Ebrahimi was sentenced to death on August 20, 2018, in the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, headed by Judge "Ali Sheikhlou", without access to the right of a designated lawyer, and on September 23, 2018, a death sentence was issued on the charge of "collaboration and membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government" was officially announced to him.
Mohayyedin Ebrahimi's arrest while wounded:
Mohayyedin Ebrahimi was wounded on November 3, 2017 after being shot by the military forces of the Iranian government and then arrested. After being wounded, he was transferred to a hospital in Urmia, but without completing the course of treatment, he was transferred to the Seyyed al-Shohada intelligence detention center in Urmia for interrogation after two days. He has been tortured and interrogated in the solitary cell of this detention center for a long time.
He was also arrested in 2010 on the charge of "collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of Iran" and was released from Urmia prison after serving his sentence.
