Kurdistan Shop owners’ strike began over deep economic recession

Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa): Shop owners in Kurdistan went on strike over high prices and rising inflation.

According to our correspondents, today, Monday, October 8th, shop owners in Sna (Sanandaj), Kirmashan (Kermanshah), Saghez, Bana (Baneh), Bokan (Bookan), Miandoaw, Pawa (Paweh), Sardasht and Piranshar (Piranshahr) began a strike against high prices and rising inflation.

They are protesting the current economic policies imposed by Rouhani’s government, which has led to a deep economic recession.

There are reports published in social media that confirm shop owner’s strike over the same issue in other regions of Iran including Zanjan, Mashhad, Borazanjan, Karaj, Esfahan and Gorgan.

Kurdish and Iranian activists have offered their support to shop owners in Kurdistan as well as all across Iran.

On September 12, 2018, Kurdish people went on public strike.

Following the Iran’s missile attacks and the execution of three Kurdish political prisoners on the 8th of September, the Cooperation Center of Iranian Kurdistan’s Political Parties called on Kurdish people in Rojhelat (Eastern Kurdistan) to stage a general strike in Iranian Kurdistan.
