Kurdistan: A Rise in Suicides to 18 in two Months

Kurdpa: With a recent youth suicide in the town of Kamyaran, the number of suicides raises to 18 in the last two months.

According to Kurdpa News Agency, 18 cases of suicide have taken place since the start of the summer season, the most recent suicide was that of a 21-year-old young man.

Milad Rahmani hanged himself in his family home located in one of the quarters in Kamyaran. The reasons for his suicide are still unclear.

Experts agree that the suicide rate has become a phenomenon in Kurdistan, and every day it is headlined in the media.

According to stats compiled by Kurdpa, 18 Kurdish civilians have successfully committed suicide in the last two months in Eastern Kurdistan; 13 out of the 18 cases are reportedly female and the other five cases are confirmed male.

According to official statistics, on average, 20 people commit suicide in Iran every day, of which 11 people succeed in their attempts.

Provinces of Illam, Ahwaz known as Khozestan by the government, Lurstan, Krmashan, and Golestan have the highest rates of suicides in Iran.
