On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Khabat Fadaei, a Kurdish artist from the village of "Boridar" in the Sarvabad county, was arbitrarily arrested by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to an informed source, security forces arrested the artist in front of his home in Marivan without presenting a judicial warrant.

As of the publication of this news, the reasons for this Kurdish citizen's arrest remain unknown, and security authorities have offered no explanation. Furthermore, he is deprived of the right to access legal counsel as well as family visits and telephone contact.

Background of Prior Arrest and Prison Sentence Against the Kurdish Artist:

Khabat Fadaei was previously arrested by security forces on September 26, 2022, and was temporarily released from Evin Prison on bail on November 14, 2022, pending trial completion.

On February 19, 2023, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Varamin, presided over by Judge Ashkan Ramesh, sentenced the artist to one year of discretionary imprisonment for "propaganda against the state" and five years for "membership in groups and associations aimed at disrupting national security."

The court issued this sentence against the Kurdish artist based on Articles 134 and 215 of the Islamic Penal Code enacted in 2013, alongside Articles 498, 499, and 500 of the Discretionary Punishment (Ta'zirat) Law enacted in 1996.
