Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa): the lawyer of Hedayat Abdollapour who has been sentenced to death and serving in Urmia prison says the sentence “does not comply with Iranian laws”.

In a brief interview with Kurdistan Press Agency (Kurdpa) about his client\'s death sentence that was confirmed on Monday by Iranian Supreme Court, Hossein Ahmadi Niaz, the lawyer of Hedayat Abdollapour says the sentence “is not fair and does not comply with Iranian constitution”.

“The death sentence was confirmed based on pressures exerted by the Supreme National Security Council”, he said.

“Unfortunately, the pressures from security organizations including the Intelligence Ministry and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)’s Intelligence Service are the main elements involving in upholding the verdict at Iranian Supreme Court; therefore, the sentence does not comply with Iranian laws”, he added.

On Monday, October 8th, Iranian Supreme Court upheld the verdict against Hidayat Abdollapour, a Kurdish political prisoner, from Shno.

Had he previously been sentenced to death, Hedayat had lodged an appeal aimed at overturn the verdict.

The decision of the Appeal Court was declared to Hadayat’s lawyer on the same day.

On January 18, 2018, Hedayat Abdollapour was for the second time sentenced to death by Urmia Revolutionary Court on charge of “cooperation with a Kurdish opposition party”.
