Sanandaj; Two Days of Detention and Incommunicado Status of Sardar Sohrabi, a Kurdish Blogger, and the Shutdown of His Instagram Account

July 21, 2026 – Two days after the arbitrary arrest of "Sardar Sohrabi," a Kurdish blogger from Marivan residing in Sanandaj, there is still no information regarding his fate or whereabouts. Furthermore, his Instagram page has been blocked and its content deleted by order of the "Public Places Supervision Police of Kurdistan Province."

A well-informed source confirmed the news to Kurdpa, stating: "On Saturday, July 19, 2026, Sardar Sohrabi—a Kurdish citizen from Marivan living in Sanandaj who was active as a blogger addressing and analyzing urban issues—was arrested by security forces without a judicial warrant. Following his arrest, his Instagram account was rendered inaccessible."

On his Instagram page, which had 104,000 followers, only a single post was published by the "Deputy of Virtual Business Supervision of the Public Places Supervision Police of Kurdistan Province," stating: "The content of this virtual page has been removed by recommendation of the Public Places Supervision Police due to non-compliance with the current laws and regulations of the country, as well as failure to adhere to disciplinary codes."

To date, the reasons for this Kurdish citizen's arrest remain unknown, and security forces have offered no explanation regarding the matter. Since his arrest, he has been deprived of the right to legal counsel, family visits, and phone contact, remaining in incommunicado detention.
