June 14, 2026; Passing two days since the fire in the forests of "Lit Anar" heights in the Kabir Kuh mountain range located in the county of "Darreh Shahr" in the province of "Ilam", this fire still continues and until now about 15 hectares of the forested area of Kabir Kuh overlooking the county of "Darreh Shahr" has suffered serious damage.

According to local sources, on the second day of the fire, a helicopter was dispatched to the region to help contain the wildfire, but the fire has still not been contained. Local people, nature assistants, and natural resources forces are still striving to extinguish the fire.

Kabir Kuh, the highest mountain range in the province of "Ilam", possesses pristine forests with oak as the dominant species and is located within the boundaries of the counties of "Malekshahi", "Badreh", "Darreh Shahr", and "Abdanan".

According to the managers of natural resources of the province of "Ilam", since the beginning of June of the current year and concurrently with the drying of pastures, five fire incidents have occurred in a total of 23 hectares of the natural arenas of this province.

The fire of forests and natural pastures has been turned into one of the serious environmental dilemmas in Kurdistan and the Zagros-dwelling regions for years. Despite the fact that dozens of environmental activists and lovers have lost their lives while containing fires, until now no effective plan and management has been adopted to protect these natural resources, and in many cases, people and environmental activists strive for days to contain the fire with limited equipment and on a voluntary basis.
