Ilam: Sasan and Parastoo Chaman-Ara released after 36 days with seven-billion bails

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Sasan and Parastoo Chaman-Ara, the detained brother and sister from Ilam, were temporarily released after 36 days of arbitrary detention upon posting seven-billion bails.

On Monday, March 16, 2026, Sasan Chaman-Ara along with his sister Parastoo Chaman-Ara were arbitrarily arrested by security forces without the presentation of a judicial warrant and were transferred to an unknown location; until the time of their release, the reasons for the arrest and the charges brought against them remained unclear.

After one month of arbitrary detention, Kurdpa reported that their detention order had been extended for another month.

During the 36 days of detention in an unknown security detention center, they were deprived of the right to access a lawyer and meetings with their family.
