Ilam; 26 Days of Arbitrary Detention and Absolute Lack of Information Regarding the Fate of Behrouz Basereh/ Serious Concern for His Life and Fate

04:48 - 6 February 2026

February 6, 2026; Following 26 days since the arbitrary detention of “Behrouz Basereh,” a Kurdish citizen from “Ilam,” there is still no information regarding his fate or place of detention, and concerns regarding his physical well-being and fate have intensified significantly.

An informed source, while confirming this news to “Kurdpa,” stated; “Behrouz Basereh,” 37 years old, a Kurdish youth from “Ilam,” was arrested on January 11, 2026, following a raid by security forces on his father's house in the “Sa’di” neighborhood of “Ilam,” without the presentation of a judicial warrant, and was transferred to an unknown location.

According to this report, forced confessions of this Kurdish citizen—claiming he was in contact with “networks hostile to the regime”—have been published by government media. This occurs as the government, during the recent wave of suppression and killing of protesters, has broadcast numerous instances of forced confessions, often featuring individuals with covered faces. These are typically first aired by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and then republished through channels and pages affiliated with government institutions, particularly on networks like “Rubika.”

During his 26 days of arbitrary detention, “Behrouz Basereh” has been completely deprived of the right to access a lawyer and visit with his family. The continuation of this absolute lack of information has escalated serious concerns regarding his life and fate among his family and relatives.
