Ilam; Mohammad Abbaszadeh, Kurdish Singer, Released After 22 Days of Arbitrary Detention Ruptured Eardrum Due to Torture and Release on 5-Billion-Toman Bail
February 5, 2026; “Mohammad Abbaszadeh,” a well-known Kurdish singer from “Ilam,” was temporarily released on January 31, 2026, upon posting a bail of 5 billion Tomans. His release follows 22 days of arbitrary detention in undisclosed detention centers and later “Ilam Prison,” during which he was subjected to severe physical torture.
An informed source, while confirming this news to “Kurdpa,” stated; following his arrest, Mohammad Abbaszadeh was transferred to an unknown location and subjected to intense interrogations accompanied by violence in solitary confinement. According to this source, as a result of the assaults and torture, his eardrum has suffered a deep rupture, and he is barely able to hear.
The source added; after days of enduring torture and being held in solitary confinement, and upon the conclusion of the interrogation period, he was transferred to “Ilam Prison” and was ultimately released temporarily on a bail of 5 billion Tomans.
It is worth noting that during his period of detention and imprisonment, despite the severe physical torture, Mohammad Abbaszadeh was completely deprived of the right to medical treatment, access to a lawyer, and visitation with his family.
On Saturday, January 10, 2026, Mohammad Abbaszadeh was arrested in public by security forces through the use of assault and violence without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to an unknown location. During his 22 days of arbitrary detention, he was deprived of any contact or visitation with his family and access to a lawyer.
Mohammad Abbaszadeh, a prominent Kurdish singer from “Ilam,” had previously been arrested during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” revolutionary uprising for performing songs in support of the people and had been repeatedly summoned by security agencies.
