Kermanshah; 12 days of arbitrary detention and lack of information regarding Boroumand Azamipour Teacher, researcher, and historian
February 12, 2026; Following 12 days since the arbitrary detention of “Boroumand Azamipour,” a Kurdish citizen from “Kermanshah,” education department teacher, researcher, and historian, no information is available regarding his fate or place of detention.
According to an informed source to “Kurdpa,” “Boroumand Azamipour” was arrested by security forces on February 1, 2026, while visiting the post office to receive his ordered books, without the presentation of a judicial warrant, and was transferred to an unknown location.
After the arrest, security forces raided his home without legal authorization, searched the house, and confiscated some of his personal belongings, including books, manuscripts, his mobile phone, and his laptop.
Until the publication of this report, the reason for the arrest has not been announced, and during his period of detention, he has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer and visitation with his family.
“Boroumand Azamipour” holds a PhD in the History of Islamic Iran. Among his well-known works is the book “The Forgotten Capital of the Kurdish People; A Political, Social, and Cultural Look at the Ancient City of Dinavar (Beginning to the Fall of Baghdad),” which was selected as the Book of the Year in 2015.
