Mahabad; One Death Sentence and 60 Years of Imprisonment for Kavice Abdollahzadeh-Aghdam and Six Kurdish Citizens

October 26, 2025; Seven Kurdish citizens, including "Kavice Abdollahzadeh-Aghdam," were sentenced to death on the charge of "Baghi" (armed rebellion), and "Yousef Mam-Qaderi," "Heyman Mam-Qaderi," "Salar Bayazidi-Azar," "Mansour Karbalaei," "Hassan Mamil-Azar," and "Salar Seyyed-Rahimi" were each sentenced to 10 years and one day of imprisonment on charges of "acting against national security and membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government." These sentences were issued by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, presided over by Judge "Ahad Siyami."

An informed source told Kurdpa, while confirming the conviction of these Kurdish citizens: On Saturday, October 25, 2025, a Kurdish citizen named "Kavice Abdollahzadeh-Aghdam," 40 years old and from the village of "Tershakan" in the suburbs of Mahabad, was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, presided over by Judge "Ahad Siyami." Furthermore, six other citizens named "Yousef Mam-Qaderi," 40 years old from Bukan; "Heyman Mam-Qaderi," 31 years old from Bukan; "Salar Bayazidi-Azar," 36 years old from the village of "Laj" in the suburbs of Mahabad; "Mansour Karbalaei," 30 years old from the village of "Sarchonar" in the suburbs of Miandoab; "Hassan Mamil-Azar," 45 years old from the village of "Gavmish-Goli" in the suburbs of Miandoab; and "Salar Seyyed-Rahimi" from the village of "Gavmish-Goli" in the suburbs of Miandoab, were each sentenced to 10 years and one day of imprisonment on the charge of "acting against national security and membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government."

The informed source told Kurdpa that among these individuals, Kavice Abdollahzadeh-Aghdam was sentenced to death in absentia.

These seven Kurdish citizens were arrested between June 25, 2022, and June 30, 2022, without the presentation of a judicial warrant by security forces and were transferred to the Urmia Intelligence Administration detention center for interrogation. During their detention in the Urmia Intelligence Administration, these individuals were subjected to torture to extract forced confessions and were deprived of access to a lawyer and family visits. Subsequently, after the completion of the interrogation phases, they were transferred to Bukan Prison and were each temporarily released upon posting heavy bail until the end of the judicial proceedings.

Kavice Abdollahzadeh left Iran after his temporary release due to pressure from security agencies.

Background of the Arbitrary Detention of These Citizens:

Kavice Abdollahzadeh-Aghdam, from the village of "Tershakan" in the suburbs of Mahabad, was arrested on June 25, 2022, by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. He is married and has two children.

Mansour Karbalaei, son of Mohammad, from the village of "Sarchonar" in the suburbs of Miandoab, was arrested on June 30, 2022, by forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location.

Seyyed Salar Seyyed-Rahimi, son of Seyyed Abdullah and from the village of "Gavmish-Goli" in the suburbs of Miandoab, was arrested on June 30, 2022, by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location. On September 10, 2022, he was temporarily released on a bail of one billion (Tomans).

Hassan Mamil-Azar, from the village of "Gavmish-Goli" in the suburbs of Miandoab, was arrested on June 30, 2022, by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location.

Yousef Mam-Qaderi, from Bukan, was arrested on June 26, 2022, without a judicial warrant by security forces and transferred to an unknown location. On July 13, 2022, Kurpa published that he was being held in one of the security detention centers in Urmia and was deprived of the right to access a lawyer and family visits. He was transferred to Bukan Prison on August 27, 2022, after the conclusion of interrogations.

Heyman Mam-Qaderi, a former political prisoner from Bukan, was arrested on June 25, 2022, outside his home without a judicial warrant by security forces and transferred to a security detention center in Urmia. He was shot and wounded in the leg while attempting to flee from security forces. On July 12, 2022, Kurpa published that while he required medical treatment, he had only received "outpatient treatment" and was subsequently transferred to a hospital in Urmia for treatment. He was temporarily released from Urmia Prison on December 6, 2022, after posting a bail of two billion and five hundred million Tomans until the end of the judicial proceedings.

Heyman Mam-Qaderi has a prior record of arrest and conviction; he was arrested on May 16, 2017, by security forces and then transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Administration detention center for interrogation. This political prisoner was transferred to Baneh Prison after the interrogation ended and was moved to Saqqez Prison for trial. The Saqqez Revolutionary Court sentenced this Bukan resident to eleven years of executory imprisonment on the charge of "membership and cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government" and acquitted him of the charge of "Moharebeh" (enmity against God).

The sentence from the court of first instance for this citizen was reduced to five years of executory imprisonment by the Supreme Court, and he was transferred from Saqqez Prison to Bukan Prison in 2019. He was released from Bukan Prison on April 11, 2020, following the widespread outbreak of the Coronavirus and the announcement of a new amnesty by the Judiciary.
