Mariwan: Mohammad Houshmand Sentenced to One Year of Discretionary Imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court in a One-Minute Defenseless Session
September 28, 2025; Mohammad Houshmand, a Kurdish citizen from the village of “Deretfi” in Mariwan, was sentenced to one year of discretionary imprisonment by the Mariwan Revolutionary Court on charges of “membership in one of the groups or opposition populations of the country.”
According to an informed source to Kurdpa; on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, through a court notice, Mohammad Houshmand was sentenced by the Mariwan Revolutionary Court to one year of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “membership in one of the groups or opposition populations of the country.” His court session had previously been held on September 7, 2025, in a one-minute trial without any defense.
The Kurdpa informed source says; Mohammad Houshmand was previously released temporarily on June 18, 2025, upon posting bail, after 34 days of arbitrary detention in the Shahramfar detention center in Sanandaj.
Kurdpa had previously reported that on Friday, May 16, 2025, Mohammad Houshmand, a Kurdish citizen from the village of “Deretfi” in Mariwan, was arrested in a violent manner by IRGC Intelligence forces following a raid by three vehicles on his home without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to the Shahramfar detention center in Sanandaj.
During his 34 days of arbitrary detention in the Shahramfar detention center in Sanandaj, Mohammad Houshmand was deprived of the right to meet with his family and access a lawyer, and this security institution provided no explanation regarding the reasons for the detention and the charges brought against him.
Mohammad Houshmand was previously the village head (Dehyar) of “Deretfi” in Mariwan. He has been summoned and interrogated by security agencies numerous times.
