Urmia Prison: 87 Days of Uncertainty for Kaveh Rahimi Following Violent Arrest, Without Right to Temporary Release or Access to a Lawyer
September 25, 2025; With 87 days passing since the arbitrary and violent detention of Kaveh Rahimi, a 40-year-old citizen from Bukan, and following lengthy interrogations in one of the security detention centers in Urmia, he is currently being held in a state of uncertainty in Urmia Central Prison, deprived of the right to temporary release and access to a lawyer.
Kurdpa had previously reported that Kaveh Rahimi was arrested in a violent manner by security forces at 3:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, without the presentation of a judicial warrant and by raiding and breaking the door of his residence, and was transferred to one of the security detention centers of the Urmia Intelligence Department.
He was interrogated for more than a month in absolute news silence and was deprived of the right to any contact or meeting with his family, as well as the right to access a lawyer; despite the family's follow-ups, security agencies refused to provide any response.
Until the time of publication of this news, the reasons for the detention and the charges brought against this Kurdish citizen remain unknown.
