Divandarreh; Amirarsalan Ghahremani, Another Kurdish Youth Killed by Live Ammunition in Tehran
January 17, 2026; “Amirarsalan Ghahremani,” a Kurdish youth in his early twenties originally from Divandarreh and a resident of Tehran, is the identity of another of the victims of the January 9 protests in Tehran who was killed by live ammunition by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic.
According to a relative of the Ghahremani family who received news of his death via a phone call, Amirarsalan Ghahremani was 23 to 24 years old and was targeted by live ammunition from the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic during the popular protests in Tehran on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, and lost his life instantly. His body has not been delivered to the family, and it is not clear whether he has been buried in Tehran or not. Nevertheless, a mourning ceremony was held in the village of “Kani Sefid (Kani Chermu)” in a very limited manner and only with the presence of immediate family members, and permission to hold the ceremony with the presence of the public, acquaintances, and relatives was not granted.
The Ghahremani family has been residing in Tehran for over 30 years, and his father, “Jalal Ghahremani,” was employed as a laborer. Amirarsalan Ghahremani was also born in Tehran.
Information regarding the killing of this Kurdish youth, including the taking of written pledges from the family or receiving money from the family in exchange for the delivery of the body, is under investigation and will subsequently be published by “Kurdpa.”
