Bukan: Arbitrary Detention of Farzad Barjasteh, Confiscation of His Phone, and Publication of Government Content on His Instagram
Today, Monday, September 22, 2025, Farzad Barjasteh, a Kurdish citizen from Bukan, had his mobile phone confiscated and his Instagram account misused by security forces after several hours of detention and interrogation. The security forces subsequently used this account to publish insulting images and writings against Kurdish leaders and in support of the Islamic Republic.
According to an informed source to Kurdpa, Farzad Barjasteh was detained by security forces on the morning of September 22, 2025, without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to one of the security detention centers. He was interrogated for several hours, and simultaneously, his mobile phone was seized and confiscated without any legal authorization. After security forces gained access to his Instagram account, imposed and insulting content was published on it.
The source added: although Farzad Barjasteh was released that same evening, his mobile phone remains confiscated and in the possession of the security forces, and they continue to publish content on his Instagram account as of the time of this news publication.
Until the time of drafting this report, no explanation has been provided by security agencies regarding the reasons for the detention, the confiscation of the mobile phone, and its misuse, nor has any legal document been shown to the named individual.
Farzad Barjasteh, 22 years old, is the son of Bayezid and a resident of Ebrahimabad in the Alashin area of Bukan.
