Mariwan; Arvin Nikpey Transferred to Prison to Serve Sentence
On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Arvin Nikpey, a Kurdish citizen from the village of "Ney," a suburb of Mariwan, presented himself to the prison of this county to serve his prison sentence.
According to an informed source, this Kurdish youth had previously been sentenced by the Revolutionary Court of Mariwan on charges of "acting against national security, cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government, and propaganda against the regime" to 11 years in prison. After appealing the verdict of the court of first instance and the referral of the case to the Appeals Court, his prison sentence was reduced to three years of enforceable imprisonment.
On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Mr. Nikpey was detained by security forces in Mariwan without the presentation of a judicial warrant and was transferred to the detention center of the Intelligence Department of this city for interrogation.
After detaining this youth, on the evening of Tuesday, January 31, 2023, security forces raided his family home in the village of "Ney," seizing his laptop and mobile phone.
Mr. Nikpey had attempted suicide in the detention center of the Mariwan Intelligence Department and, on Saturday, May 6, 2023, following the suicide attempt, was transferred by ambulance from the Intelligence Department to Fajr Hospital in Mariwan.

This Kurdish citizen was transferred from the Mariwan Intelligence Department detention center to the prison of this city on Thursday, May 11, 2023, and was temporarily released on Thursday, May 25, 2023, upon posting a bail of 500 million Tomans.
