Kermanshah; Reza Ghanbari, 17-Year-Old Teenager, Killed by Live Ammunition from Close Range
January 8, 2026; “Reza Ghanbari,” a 17-year-old Kurdish teenager and student from Kermanshah, whose death during the popular protests in this city was reported on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, was killed by direct live ammunition fire from close range.
According to Kurdpa investigations, “Reza Ghanbari” was targeted from a very close range and from behind by live ammunition fire from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, in the “Jafarabad” neighborhood, “Artesh” Street in Kermanshah, following an attack by repressive forces on protesters. He lost his life shortly after due to the bullet hitting his back and side.
According to an informed source speaking to Kurdpa, after killing this teenager, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces took his body and kept it until January 5, 2026, refusing to hand it over to the family. Finally, on Monday, January 5, 2026, his body was buried in the cemetery of “Jabbarabad-e Salafi (Bilvar)” village, as announced in the funeral notice; however, despite the funeral notice stating that the burial would take place with public presence, due to repeated pressure and threats, the family was forced to bury his body very secretly and without the presence of the public.
Among the pressures and threats by security forces against the family of “Reza Ghanbari” was forcing them to introduce their child as a “Government Basij” and attribute his killing to “protesters,” but the family refused to accept this demand.
Previously, the news of the killing of two Kurdish brothers named “Rasoul Kadivarian,” 18, and “Reza Kadivarian,” 20, during the popular protests in Kermanshah, in the “Jafarabad” neighborhood, “Artesh” Street, had been confirmed and published by Kurdpa.
Kurdpa investigations show that these three Kurdish youth and teenagers were collectively targeted by continuous gunfire from IRGC forces and killed.
Reza Ghanbari was the son of Mohsen and grew up without a mother. He was among the child laborers.
The word “Martyr” is inscribed on the funeral announcement of this 17-year-old teenager.
