Urmia: Ayhan Ebrahimi Released from Urmia Prison Under Electronic Footprint Monitoring with a One-Thousand-Meter Range

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, Ayhan Ebrahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Urmia, was released from the Central Prison of this city under electronic footprint monitoring after serving 85 days of his one-year prison sentence.

According to an informed source to Kurdpa; Mr. Ebrahimi will spend the remainder of his one-year sentence outside of prison under the supervision of an electronic footprint device with a range of one thousand meters.

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, this Kurdish citizen was detained to implement his prison sentence and transferred to Urmia Central Prison. He had previously been sentenced to one year in prison by the Second Branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge “Shahini,” after his initial verdict was overturned by the Supreme Court.

Mr. Ebrahimi's prison sentence was overturned by the 39th Branch of the Supreme Court, and his case was referred to a parallel branch in the Urmia Revolutionary Court for review.

In early October 2024, Mr. Ebrahimi had been sentenced by the Third Branch of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judges “Barzkar” and “Najafzadeh,” to six years in prison, including time already served, on the charge of “membership in groups opposing the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

This Kurdish citizen was arrested at his family home on Monday, July 8, 2024, without a judicial warrant and through the use of violence, and was transferred to the Urmia Intelligence Department detention center for interrogation.

After 10 days of interrogation and completion of the process, he was transferred from the Urmia Intelligence Department detention center to the central prison of this city and was eventually released temporarily upon posting a bail of two billion Tomans.

Ayhan Ebrahimi is 29 years old and a nursing graduate from the Guilan University of Medical Sciences.
