August 27, 2025 – Rafiq Mostafaei, a 42-year-old Kurdish citizen from Mariwan, has been temporarily released on heavy bail after 25 days of arbitrary detention.
According to a source who spoke with Kurdpa, on Monday, August 25, 2025, Rafiq Mostafaei was released from Mariwan Prison after 25 days in detention. A few days prior to his release, he had been transferred from a security detention center run by the Mariwan Intelligence Department to the city’s prison in preparation for the bail process.
Kurdpa had earlier reported that on Friday, August 2, 2025, security forces affiliated with the Mariwan Intelligence Department raided Mr. Mostafaei’s workplace — a brick kiln — without presenting a judicial warrant, and arrested him while he was working. A resident of Mosk village and living in Mariwan, he was taken to an undisclosed location following his arrest.
It is important to note that during his detention and interrogation, Mr. Mostafaei was denied access to legal counsel, family visits, or phone contact. Efforts by his family to obtain information about his status were unsuccessful, as security agencies refused to provide any explanation.
As of the time of this report, the reason for his arrest remains unknown.
