Oshnavieh – Night Raid on Balagir Village and Arrest of Abubakr Oghabi After Visiting Intelligence Office

On August 4, 2025, Abubakr Oghabi, a Kurdish citizen from Balagir village in Oshnavieh County, was arbitrarily arrested by security forces after visiting the Intelligence Office to follow up on his identity documents, which had been seized during a night raid on the village. His fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
According to a source informed by Kurdpa, in the early hours of Monday, August 4, 2025, security forces from the Intelligence Office created an atmosphere of fear in Balagir village, banging on the doors of several families’ homes. When they reached Oghabi’s house, they confiscated his identification documents — including his passport and national ID card — without presenting a judicial warrant.
Following this, Oghabi went to the Oshnavieh Intelligence Office to inquire about the reason for the confiscation of his documents and to request their return. However, he never returned home and was arrested there.
The informed source stated that no information has been available about Oghabi’s fate since his visit to the Intelligence Office, and his arrest was carried out without a judicial warrant.
As of the time of this report, the reason for his arrest, the purpose of the security forces’ intimidation in Balagir village, and the seizure of his personal belongings remain unclear.
