Salmas: Kurdish Civilian Latif Yaqoubi Killed by Government Forces’ Gunfire

On Tuesday, July 21, 2025, a Kurdish civilian identified as Latif Yaqoubi, son of Hossein and a resident of Kuzeh-Rash village in the Salmas region, died at a hospital in Urmia as a result of injuries sustained from gunfire by government forces in the border areas of Salmas the previous week.
According to an informed source, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, government forces opened fire on the 45-year-old civilian at close range and without prior warning in the border regions of Salmas, leaving him critically injured.
Mr. Yaqoubi was initially transferred to medical facilities in Salmas for treatment but, due to the severity of his injuries, was later transferred to Khomeini Hospital in Urmia, where he succumbed to his wounds.
