Mahabad: Ongoing Detention and Incommunicado Status of Arash Mollaahmadi, Keyvan Ashtab, and Younes Tanhaei After 5 to 13 Days

As of June 29, 2025, Arash Mollaahmadi, Keyvan Ashtab, and Younes Tanhaei, three Kurdish citizens from Mahabad, remain in incommunicado detention, with no information available regarding their whereabouts or fate, between 5 and 13 days after their arrests.

According to a reliable source who spoke to Kurdpa:

On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Arash Mollaahmadi, a 21-year-old resident of Khanga village (Mahabad), was arrested without a judicial warrant by security forces and taken to an undisclosed location.

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, Keyvan Ashtab, a Kurdish nurse at a local hospital in Mahabad, was arrested by Intelligence agents without a judicial warrant and transferred to an unknown location.

Approximately 13 days ago—on or around Wednesday, June 18, 2025—Younes Tanhaei, a Kurdish citizen from Hamzeh Abad village, Mahabad, was arrested without a judicial warrant by security forces and similarly transferred to an undisclosed location.

Despite continued efforts by the families of the detainees, no government authority has provided any information about the location, condition, or legal status of the three individuals.

As of the time of publication, the reasons for the arrests and any charges against these detainees remain undisclosed.

It is worth noting that Younes Tanhaei had previously been arrested on August 14, 2022, also without a judicial warrant, and was held incommunicado at that time as well. He is married and the father of two children.
