15:27 - 22 June 2025

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Ali Mohammadi, the father of Shahriyar Mohammadi—a young man killed during the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising in Bukan—was arrested by Iranian security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to a credible source, Mr. Mohammadi was detained without the presentation of a judicial warrant.

As of the time of publication, no information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest or any charges that may have been brought against him.

Shahriyar Mohammadi, 28, a resident of Bukan, was killed during public protests in the city. Following the killing of his friend Mohammad Hassan-zadeh on November 16, 2022, Shahriyar was identified and pursued by Iranian security forces. On November 18, 2022, security agents blocked a street in Bukan—from Aliabad Square to the Welfare Office—and surrounded Shahriyar’s vehicle. They then opened fire on him with automatic weapons, riddling his car with bullets. Fearing a public backlash, the security forces fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Despite being critically injured, Shahriyar reportedly cried out his mother’s name and pleaded for help. He was transferred to Gholipour Hospital, where he died approximately 40 minutes later despite resuscitation attempts.
