Bukan: Befrin Maroufi Transferred to Urmia Central Prison to Serve Sentence

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, Befrin Maroufi, a Kurdish citizen from Bukan, was transferred to the women’s ward of Urmia Central Prison to begin serving her prison sentence.

According to a reliable source, Maroufi had been sentenced by Branch 101 of Bukan Criminal Court II to four months and seven days in prison on charges of “collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party.”

Previously, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, she had been temporarily released from the women’s ward of Urmia Central Prison after posting bail.

Maroufi had been transferred to Urmia Prison following her interrogation after arrest.

She was originally arrested on Thursday, January 30, 2025, by security forces without a judicial warrant at her home.

Befrin Maroufi, daughter of Rahman, was born in 1982 (1361 Hijri Shamsi).
