Sanandaj: Execution of Goran Ghaderi Carried Out

In the early hours of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the execution of Goran Ghaderi, a citizen who had been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder in the case of Shalir Rasouli, was carried out at Sanandaj Central Prison.

This individual, a resident of Marivan, had been arrested in September 2022 on charges of premeditated murder of Shalir Rasouli, and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Shalir Rasouli, a 36-year-old woman from the village of Cheshmedar in Sarvabad County and a resident of Marivan, lost her life after jumping out of a window to escape an attempted sexual assault.

On the evening of Saturday, September 3, 2022, Goran Ghaderi, under the pretext of needing help for his wife, invited Shalir Rasouli to his home. There, he attempted to sexually assault her. Fearing rape, Shalir jumped out of the window in an attempt to escape.

Following her death, two protest gatherings were held in Marivan. First, women of Marivan gathered in front of the city’s courthouse in protest. Later, her funeral ceremony turned into a protest demonstration.
