On Wednesday, May 15, 2025, Azim Yadegari, a Kurdish citizen from Dehloran and one of the detainees of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Woman, Life, Freedom) revolutionary uprising, was arrested in Tehran to begin serving a 10-year prison sentence, and transferred to Ilam Central Prison.
According to a source who spoke to Kurdpa, Azim Yadegari—who was transferred from Tehran to Ilam Central Prison following his arrest—had previously been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Ilam Criminal Court to 10 years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “disturbing public order and peace, assembly and collusion to commit crimes against domestic and foreign security, and brandishing a weapon.”

On April 16, 2023, Azim Yadegari, along with three other citizens from Dehloran—Hossein Bapirvand, Farshad Aini, and Saadollah Aini—went on a hunger strike in Ilam Central Prison to protest their uncertain legal status, the lack of due process, and inhumane detention conditions.
On April 18, 2023, residents of Dehloran held a peaceful protest in front of the governor’s office, demanding the unconditional release of Azim Yadegari, Hossein Bapirvand, Farshad Aini, and Saadollah Aini.
On September 29, 2023, Azim Yadegari, along with seven other citizens—Hossein Ashouri, Farshad Aini, Saadollah Aini, Mohammad Hossein Haseli, Vahid Chavaran, Naser Rezaei, and Bakhtiar Mohammadzadeh—was summoned to Branch 1 of the Ilam Criminal Court and charged with “disturbing public order and peace, assembly and collusion to commit crimes against domestic and foreign security, and brandishing a weapon.”
