21:06 - 19 May 2025

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, an interrogation session for Kamran Sakhtemanegar, labor activist and former political prisoner, was held at Branch 2 of the Investigative Office of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Sanandaj.

In this session, the labor activist was acquitted of the charges of “membership in Komala,” “assembly and collusion,” and “insulting the Supreme Leader.” However, the case was referred to court with an indictment under the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”

On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Kamran Sakhtemanegar was released from Sanandaj prison after posting bail.

After completing his interrogation, he had been transferred from one of Sanandaj’s security detention centers to the city’s central prison.

On Wednesday, February 7, 2025, this labor activist was arrested without a judicial warrant by security forces on Jami Street in Sanandaj.

Earlier, on Monday, November 27, 2023, Kamran Sakhtemanegar was arrested after appearing at Branch 4 of the Criminal Sentence Enforcement Office in Sanandaj and was transferred to prison to serve a sentence of monetary fine.

Kamran Sakhtemanegar had previously been acquitted of the charge of “assembly and collusion” by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, but was convicted of “propaganda against the regime through social media and interviews with TV networks”, and sentenced to three months of discretionary imprisonment and a monetary fine.

The court, citing legal provisions as well as his medical condition and a forensic medical certificate from a previous case, converted the 3-month prison sentence into a monetary penalty, sentencing him to pay a total fine of 34 million tomans.

This labor activist had earlier been sentenced to five years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “membership in Komala and propaganda against the regime.” After the sentence was reduced to 28 months, he was released from Sanandaj prison on March 21, 2023.
